FAQ

Sole trader questions

How do I register as a sole trader in Ireland?+

Register for income tax with Revenue using Form TR1 through myAccount or ROS. If you trade under a name other than your own, register that name with the CRO using Form RBN1. We can complete both for you from €99.

When is the sole trader tax return due?+

Your Form 11 and preliminary tax for the previous year are due by 31 October. If you file and pay through ROS, Revenue usually allows a later date in mid-November.

Do I need to register for VAT?+

Only once your turnover passes the threshold: €85,000 for goods or €42,500 for services in the current or previous calendar year. You can register voluntarily before that. Once registered, VAT3 returns are usually due every two months.

Can I pay monthly for a yearly plan?+

Yes. The Annual Tax Return plan can be paid at €35 a month instead of €395 a year. Tell us on your call and we'll set the monthly option up for you.
